CQ 2012 Basket

This is one of the five baskets I'm doing as the focal points for my 2012 CQ Challenge wall hanging. You can refer to the chart of the quilt that I posted here earlier this month to see where they will be going. All of the stitches for this basket are simple and consist of straight stitch, lazy daisy, a lot of French knots, padded satin stitch, split stitch, and outline stitch. All open areas were then topped with sz 11 and 15 seed beads. I added the bow to the handle as it needed something at the top when I finished the embroidery. I also added a mixture of small flowers to this vintage basket design from other vintage sources as the basket didn't look complete. You are welcomed to print a copy of the design. This will not be actual size so you can reduce or enlarge it on your computer.

  1. I have to come back here when I have more time. I don't quilt but love it and yours looks very special. I have a fabulous old hanky or lingerie bag that is done in tiny pieces and the most exquisite embroidery. It is one of the things I swear I'll take to the nursing home with me! LOL!!

  3. Very pretty Maureen. I liked the way you did the handle. That is different. Will you be making the 5 baskets into diamonds then doing the cq all around and between it. That would mean working it as a whole piece cloth if I am reading this right.

It will be beautiful as usual.

Thank you for sharing the patterns with us.

  5. Maureen, this is beautiful! That's a nice soft colour scheme, so far. I'm very curious to see how it will look completed.

  8. Second to none to say the least. I am curious as to the outline shape that you have cut your basket in after stitching. I see your draft and cannot imagine the amount of work that will go into this beautiful masterpiece. I know you can finish this one for sure, it would be hard to put down.
