It's been a while since I gave you a vintage design to embroider. Maybe you can come up with a fancier way to embroider this but I just kept it simple by using a split stitch in black to outline it and added a few gold beads. I've also included the design for the little spray of flowers. Quick but effective.
After three years of being packed away in my basement, I've been reunited with an old friend I located there last week. Some of you may remember this little house. I entered a contest in Sew Beautiful magazine and won Best in Show which resulted in a $1,000 cash prize and a large layout on how to make it in two issues of the magazine. Besides a holster with cowgirl guns that I won from a Disney coloring contest when I was a little girl, I think this is my only claim to fame!
The house is my design and the doll and clothing were made when I was in the porcelain dollmaking phase of my life. This was such a fun project.
Last year I posted photos of the Asian wall hanging I designed and now I am posting photos of Shirlee's interpretation of the wall hanging in a smaller size. She did not do crazy quilting but went the route of lovely motifs using a combination of stump work and embroidery finished off with sequins and beads. I especially admire the lanterns. The photo may not do it justice as when you see it in person each of the motifs look so real and dimensional.
The photos of this wall hanging do not do the piece justice.

Portfolio of My Work
I have started an online Portfolio of my work. Take a look when you can.
Welcome!
Hi Everyone, I would like to tell you what I hope to accomplish with this blog. I love to share my love for Crazy Quilting with others and want to make this a place you can come for a random idea or two. The blog will be run for the purpose of putting out those ideas as well as a guide to some of the items available at my website and some uses for them. I hope you will visit often. Even if you are not a customer of my website, I want you to feel welcome to come here and to garner any inspiration you can from what I have to offer. From time to time, I would also like to highlight work by others when they are willing to share. My husband and I are still busy adding new things to this blog and to the website so please be sure to check back often.
I'm Maureen - Reen, if you'd rather. I'm happily married, have 2 grown children and 3 beautiful grandchildren. I've been a "stay at home" most of my married life and have always had a project I've been working on. Some things I finish, some are laying here as I write waiting to be finished, and some (more than I'd like to admit) just get tossed when I get to a point I can't look at it another day and am not happy with how it's turning out. I've done various crafts, porcelain dollmaking (which took up 10 years of my life), some sane quilting (when I get a request for it), watercolor painting (can't hold my interest), and my all time favorite - CRAZY QUILTING - I love it!! My other favorite pastime is giving attention to our little Chihuahua, Gracie.
